Eduroam
eduroam service information
eduroam is an international Wi-Fi roaming service for the research and education community. It allows students, teachers and researchers from participating organisations to access the internet using their home institution's eduroam credentials when visiting other participating locations.
At supported locations, eduroam is broadcast by Glide equipment. However, it is a separate service from the Glide network: your university, college or other home institution manages your eduroam account and login details.
Your Glide account username, Glide account password and Glide network passkey are separate from your eduroam login details. Use the credentials and setup instructions supplied by your home institution.
- Read the eduroam UK policy on the Jisc website.
- View participating organisations in the UK.
Glide and eduroam
Glide provides a visited-only eduroam service. This means Glide provides the network access for eligible eduroam users, while their home institution authenticates their login. Glide does not issue eduroam accounts.

How do I connect to eduroam?
- Check that your university, college or other home institution participates in eduroam and that you are eligible to use it.
- Follow your home institution's eduroam setup instructions. It may recommend an installer from the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT) or the geteduroam app.
- Where eduroam is available, connect to the Wi-Fi network named eduroam using the profile and login details supplied by your home institution.
Do not enter your eduroam password into a Glide sign-in page. eduroam does not use a web login page to authenticate your connection.
Who should I contact for help?
For help with your eduroam username, password, device setup or account eligibility, contact your home institution's IT support team. They provide the primary support for your eduroam account.
If eduroam is normally available at your accommodation but the network has disappeared, or you suspect a local network fault, contact the Glide Service Desk.
If you want to connect using your Glide account instead, see our guide to Glide Wi-Fi network names.
