PlayStation Network Blocking

As of 12/05/17 we believe this issue is resolved. If you experience any issues accessing Playstation Network please contact Sony Playstation support.

We occasionally receive reports from our users due to problems connecting to Sony's PlayStation Network (PSN/SEN).

As part of Sony's security measures, malicious traffic is identified by the offender's external public IP address. This IP address is blocked, which results in a loss of connectivity to the PSN for all users which share that address - whether they are deliberately misusing the network or not.

This happens because multiple users connect from behind a single public IP on our network (this relates to what is called a Carrier-Grade NAT Type). We are in conversation with Sony to find a permanent solution, but in the meantime they continue to block our IP ranges from time to time.

Sony's support team will generally suggest troubleshooting steps that include contacting us in order to unblock certain ports for online gaming, or to use a static IP address.

We do not block ports in this way and use dynamic IPv4 addressing across our network as standard.

What can I do?

The best thing to do is to contact Sony and ask for your public IP address to be unblocked from their system. You can find this information by going to www.whatismyip.com - the ISP should be listed as CableCom Networking Ltd.
